Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade planned for Galaxy SII

Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade planned for Galaxy SII Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade planned for Galaxy SIIThere is good news for those in possession of Samsung Galaxy SII smartphones, functioning in ‘Vodafone’ network. Vodafone has indicated as to when the phone will get upgraded to ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ operating system, the latest version of Android.

It was supposed to have been provided by last Tuesday, but due to some technical reasons there has been a delay of two to three days. It has been confirmed that it will be available via ‘KIES’.

However, Samsung informed Vodafone about its inability to provide the update as planned. Samsung also clarified that the network provider cannot decide about the update of the OS.

As per Samsung’s plan, the update is expected through KIES by 13th April. By 17th it will be available ‘over the air’ (OTA). If this plan is final, it will be informed to the customers.

This last minute change may disappoint the customers, who are certain to approach Samsung for arranging an immediate upgrade.

The users have to wait for the next week to get the update ‘over the air’, which means further extension of date, fears Vodafone.

There is reason for the Vodafone Galaxy SII owners to get annoyed, because, other networks have been quick to incorporate Ice Cream Sandwich for their mobiles. In fact, service providers like ‘O2’and ‘Three’ managed to upgrade for the handsets last month itself.
