Without the third party applications, it is impossible to mount Apple’s iPhone. When iPad devices can be mounted as a disk drive, iPhones fails to accomplish this. However, the market introduces various applications with which you can mount the iPhone as a disk drive. Among the several applications the latest is Air Sharing. This latest application can be downloaded and used from iTunes App Store. Follow the instructions below and you could easily mount the iPhone as an external device through a Wi-Fi connection. It is not a complex process, but is very simple and quick to perform.
Method to mount
Firstly, you should tap the part of the home screen of the iPhone where the icon “App Store” is available. After that, you should tap on the “search” option and Air sharing on the field that appears. This will let you search the applications quickly and without any hassles. Once the search is complete, tap the install button. When prompted enter the Apple ID password. Next step is to confirm the installation and then download the app. Installing the app is also very simple process.
As soon as you have installed the applications, tap the “settings” icon on the home screen of the iPhone. After tapping the settings, go for the Wi-Fi connection option. To enable the Wi-Fi, tap the slider to the right of the “Wi-Fi” heading. Then you should tap the Wi-Fi network below the “Choose a Network” caption. If required, type the security password of the network and then connect to the network.
To launch the “Air Sharing” application, tap on the icon. Once it is done, tap the “Wi-Fi” icon and note down the IP address. On the task bar of the computer, click on the start button and then select the option, computer. In the toolbar you will come across a Map Network Drive option, users will need to click on it. To categorize the mounted iPhone from the drop down menu, choose a drive letter. Next process will let you enter the IP address which you have noted down earlier. Last step is to click finish button. On following the simple steps, you can mount the iPhone via a Wi-Fi connection.
