LG LS970 leaked with quad-core Krait, LTE support

Another LG smartphone has popped up on the web, and surprise, surprise… it’s another rectangular black slab. This time, however, the hardware hiding inside the rather unassuming chassis of the LS970 is a nice contrast to its subdued exterior.

Apart from the 13 megapixel rear shooter hiding in plain sight on the back of the phone, there’s some serious muscle inside — specifically Qualcomm’s quad-core Krait SoC. What goes nicely with all those cores? Why, 2GB of RAM to handle all the multitasking you’ll be doing on your LS970, of course! LG has also packed in 16GB of internal storage,a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, and an LTE radio. The 2100mAh battery should provide plenty of power

The screen on the LS970 won’t disappoint, either. It’s a 4.7-inch display that runs at 1280×768 pixels — which equates to a pixel density of around 317, just slightly better than the Samsung Galaxy S3. Pixel density alone doesn’t tell the story, of course, so we’ll have to wait until the LS970 (which is claimed to have a TFT LCD display) can really compete with a Samsung HD Super AMOLED display. An operating system wasn’t specified, either, but Android is a safe bet considering LG’s tepid relationship with Windows Phone.

Several important details have yet to be revealed, such as the name the phone will be branded with (presumably an Optimus something), what it will cost, or which carrier it’s headed to. Clues in the leak indicate that a likely target might be Sprint, who seem to be loading up on LTE models for that day in the (hopefully near) future when they finally flip the switch on their now-dormant LTE network.
