Nokia has complained that mobile competitors are infringing its patents.
It is seeking claims from HTC, RIM, ViewSonic etc in the US as well as Germany.
Nokia informed that 45 patents are infringed. The patents pertain to data retrieval on mobiles, management of power, dynamic menus, enhancement of features like multitasking and app stores.
Louise Pentland, the chief legal office of Nokia stated that the Finnish company is dead against approaching the court, but it has no other go, as its latest technologies and proprietary innovations have been tampered by competitors without permission.
Lousie informed that these inventions are novel to Nokia products. Nokia recognizes and gives importance to the competitors, but it cannot tolerate unauthorized utilization of its design and innovation.
But HTC has different story to tell. Their spokesperson informed Mobile that HTC is surprised at the complaints of Nokia. HTC has been the authorized licensee of Nokia on wireless patents since the year 2003. As such Nokia’s complaint is baseless.
However, as Nokia is yet to talk to HTC regarding this, the company will not make any comment unless an official complaint is received from Nokia.
Research In Motion (RIM) had their reservation to say anything regarding the matter. Probably it also wants an official complaint from Nokia.
None from ViewSonic was available to give the company’s opinion in the matter.
