Research in Motion (RIM) has clarified that in future its BlackBerry smartphones will have physical QWERTY keyboards.
This will be good news for those users who are not yet familiar with usage of touchscreen keyboard.
Thorsten Heins of RIM stated that US phone site Phonescoop had confirmed at BlackBerry World in Florida that the devices will be with and without physical keyboards.
Though the company aims to produce virtual keyboards, the production of physical keyboards will continue.
The site reported that the first BlackBerry 10 devices will be with virtual keyboards, but subsequent phones will have both virtual and physical keyboards.
RIM showed the keyboard features of the new BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha which was handed over to the developers during the conference. The BlackBerry 10 keyboard will offer word calculations. It will also help in guessing the letters which are to be typed virtually in the same manner as what Swiftkey does for android.
Pocket-lint was informed by reliable sources that Swiftkey is used by BlackBerry for the PlayBook Operating System 2.0. Then, it is reasonable to expect that the same technology is being used in this case also.
BlackBerry Bold and Curve users can feel relieved that physical keyboard is still kept in high esteem by RIM.
