Just days after Windows Phone users got their hands on a non-beta Skype app, it has arrived for PS Vita owners, too. And in what must come as an unpleasant shock to the WinPho crowd, Skype for the PS Vita can actually run in the background.
Yes, you can play Lego Batman 2 and Skype will camp out quietly and listen for incoming calls and messages. If someone rings while you’re beating bad guys into bricks, an alert pop-up appears in the corner of your screen and you can tap the PS button to answer. Skype for PS Vita also lets you make voice calls to any standard phone — as long as you’re a subscriber or have Skype credit in your account to cover it, of course.
Both the front and rear cameras are supported, too, so you can flip the view around and take your friends on a virtual tour of your new apartment just like Fatal1ty does in the official demo video.
