Telefonica of Spain, the principals of network provider O2, is launching a new app to enable free calls and texts for iPhone users.

The app ‘Tu Me’ will be on iOS initially but it will also be on Android very soon.

TU Me permits the smartphone users to converse, communicate through messages etc without disturbing their quota of call minutes and texts. The operations can be done from one control within a screen, without the need of switching apps or tabs.

TU Me will be a challenge for Skype, Viber and Whatsapp apps.

The service also permits sharing of photos. The communications of users are stored in a timeline format, enabling easy access to past conversations.

The data are stored in the cloud, so the message will be in tact even if the device is somehow lost. Any iPhone owner can take advantage of the service, irrespective of the network.

The app can function via Wi-Fi as well as 3G.

Stephen Shurrock of ‘Telefonica Digital’ is excited to inform that apps on smartphones are extremely popular, but TU Me goes a step further.

By putting all communication needs in one place, that to without extra charges, TU Me allows the users to be in touch with their dear ones.

It also helps the company in recovering some revenue that services like Skype have been pilfering.

TU Me app can now be downloaded from Apple app store.
