O2 launches mobile payment service O2 launches mobile payment serviceNetwork provider O2 has informed that it’s new ‘mobile money service’ will be free for the initial six months. Nothing has been mentioned about the charges after that.

From 26th April, the O2 Wallet is available as an app on iOS, Blackberry and Android platforms. The consumers can transfer up to GBP 500 to any other UK mobile number. 30,000 locations including O2 stores are available for the consumers to include their credit cards or debit cards for the facility. The consumers can also top up their account there.

Topping up is also possible with a pre-paid Visa card, only difference is that they can only spend for the amount they have put in. A bar code scanning option is also there, with the help of which the consumers can compare the prices from various online dealers like Tesco Direct, Comet, Sainsbury’s Direct and Debenhams.

Near Field Communication (NFC) technology will also be included in the service later on. This will enable the consumers to avail contactless payments, in addition to topping up airtime and buying train tickets.

James le Brocq of O2 Money informed that O2 Wallet provides the best service for the consumers. Easy track of money and expenditure, swift and secure payments are all possible with O2 Wallet. It will decide the manner in which the users handle their finance.

The service was supposed to start at the end of last year. But the launch has been delayed due to further testing. At last, the launch has been effected to-day.
