Older customers are widely adopting smart phones Older customers are widely adopting smart phones According to the latest reports, people aged over 50 are adopting smart phones. Earlier smart phone adoption was higher in younger generation. Nearly, half of the recent smart phone owners are those aged above 50. As per the figures 36.6% of the elderly customers are choosing Samsung and 23.4% Apple. Nokia gadgets are adopted by 6.2%. Among the products, the fast moving and the most popular one is Samsung Galaxy Ace. Cost is the main factor that is triggering choice of smart phone among the elderly people.

The research lasted 12 weeks and ended in March 18. The findings suggested that 63% of customers aged 50 and above browsed the internet, 57% accessed email and 52% download apps. Mobile internet is very popular among the elderly people, as internet has become an important part in their everyday lives. Most of the customers use their mobile phone for internet activities which they normally would perform on Desktop or Laptops. However, users under 50 use the phones for other purposes.

The reports also suggest that half of the Smart Phone users in the country use Android device. Android has been able to grab a 50% of the smart phone. Samsung, the smart phone manufacturer received 28.1% of market in the UK.
